Welcome to this week’s Thursday Writing Prompt. Dragons have a long history in the mythology of many cultures around the world and they continue to fascinate us. It’s been suggested that the legend of the dragon is some kind of collective memory of dinosaurs, but who really knows? It’s interesting to think about, though.

This week, your task is to create a dragon of your own making. You can pull from existing types of dragons or create your own from scratch, but it must have features that immediately identify it to readers so they know the creature is a dragon.

In two paragraphs, or about 350 words, describe your dragon and the environment that it lives in. This isn’t intended to be a plot idea or a finished piece of writing. The idea here is that you come up with a creature that you could use in a writing project. If you’re feeling artistic, take a little bit of time to sketch some details for your dragon. And don’t forget to give it a name!
