About

I am an independent historian and freelance writer, and I work as a copy editor. I have a master’s degree in history from the American Military University and a bachelor’s degree in communications from the University of Maryland University College Park.

My main historical interest is the Victorian Era, specifically nineteenth-century England. I’m also interested in World War I and the American West, but I read on a wide variety of places and topics. It’s amazing how many things in the world are interconnected, and I often find an “Aha!” moment while reading about something that I’d thought was totally unrelated to my areas of study. This is what keeps history interesting!

My other interests include writing, photography, geology, astronomy, drawing and painting, and crafts, with occasional outbursts of baking.

Focal Plane is my creative outlet, and I hope you will enjoy the articles here. Thanks for stopping by!
